I like to combine the best things in life. And for me that means escapism into a fantasy and hot erotica.
These tilting books have a broad range of fantasy tropes, complete with spectacular world building, epic plots, and to take them to the next level of pure bliss they have some really hot scenes that are guaranteed to get your blood going.
As if you’re going to need all these reasons to keep those page turnings! Better yet, many of the books I’ll be talking about here are actually just first books in an entire series. So, if after one you’re still begging for more, your desire can be satisfied!
Get prepared, we’re going in!
From Blood And Ash
This captivating fantasy has action, adventure, heat, and angst. Here’s what it’s about…
It seems Poppy’s fate has been decided for her, the life of a solitary maiden, not allowed to speak or be spoken to, and never to be touched. She prepares to be deemed worthy by the gods in order to usher in a new era, but she’d rather be fighting back the evil that took her family.
However, the future of an entire kingdom rests heavily on her shoulders, and she’s not sure if she wants it.
Then comes sexy, mysterious Hawke, duty-sworn to protect her, who not only sparks in her desire and longing but also gets her angry and makes her question everything she believes in and stands for as she wonders about temptation for the forbidden, and longs for the life denied her.
At the same time, there’s a growing rebellion as the fallen kingdom determines to rise once more, even if it means violence and bloodshed. Right and wrong begin to blur.
At risk of being found unworthy by the gods, Poppy is on the verge of losing both her heart and her life, as everything unravels before her.
It has characters you ‘ll love and there are plenty of twists and turns along the way. The plot is nothing short of addictive!
This is the first book in the Blood and Ash series, which is followed by 5 additional books, including A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire, The Crown of Gilded Bones, The War of Two Queens, A Soul of Ash and Blood, and finally, Visions of Flesh and Blood, which is a comprehensive companion guide with art, reference materials, original short stories, and more.
A Court Of Thorns And Roses
This is the sexy, action-packed first book in one of the best known adult fantasy series around. So you may have heard or even read it already, but it’s great, so it’s going in my shortlist anyway!
It’s seductive and breathtaking, and it combines faerie lore, romance and adventure seamlessly for a truly impactful read that you’ll remember.
It starts with Feyre killing a wolf while out hunting in the snow. Retribution is demanded, and she gets dragged to a dangerous magical land where she learns that her captor, Tamlin, is one of the lethal, immortal faeries who once ruled her world.
As she becomes accustomed to her new home, she starts to have feelings for Tamlin, and the relationship between the two of them moves from icy hostility to something rather more hot and passionate.
However, something’s not right in the lands, and something’s coming that Feyre just has to stop or the faerie world, and Tamlin will be doomed forever more.
It’s fiercely, darkly romantic and passionate. Not to mention irresistibly sexy, seductive and intoxicating. And the suspense and intrigue will have you hypnotically turning the pages!
Music Of The Night
This very dark and gothic romance can be described as “Phantom of the Opera meets Beauty and the Beast”.
And just like in The Phantom of the Opera, the female character falls in love with a mysterious stranger who teaches her the gift of song. But it’s no smooth journey. There is blood, horror and murder.
She came to be around this mystery man when her father passed away, and she made a deal to become a ward of a Count to avoid an arranged marriage.
Her midnight meetings with the stranger lead her to love him, despite the claims that this man is behind the madness that haunts the town.
The story also has an element of mystery to unravel, too, with regard to the male’s shadowy past.
It’s a quick read with a nice ending. It captures the atmosphere of the musical, and has explicit sex scenes. The longing, passion and sexual tension is palpable, and the female character is happy to take the lead when the mood suits.
Although Music of the Night can be read as a stand-alone, it is part of a collection of books that are all stand-alones that can be read in any order. They are all gothic romances.
Neon Gods
This is a modern retelling of the tale of Hades and Persephone, and it’s hotter than hell!
Desperate to get away from the backstabbing politics of the Thirteen Houses,
society sweetheart Persephone Dimitriou plans to flee the ultra-modern city of Olympus and start again somewhere new.
But her plans turn to shreds when her mother tries to ambush her into a forced marriage between Persephone and Zeus.
Fleeing such a fate, Persephone heads to the forbidden under city to make a bargain with Hades, a man she believed was only an urban legend.
In a play for revenge, Hades keeps her close, and after so many heated nights together, Hades is prepared to go to war with the entire city to keep her near.
Zodiac Academy: The Awakening
This fantasy adventure book begins as a magical realism novel, but moves swiftly onto full on fantasy. It is often described as “What Hogwarts would be like if it were run by Voldermort”.
But what sets it apart from the Harry Potter series is that the “kids” are grown-ups, and there are delicious sex scenes that are not suitable for younger readers. Not to mention how everyone’s in danger all of the time!
The story starts with two orphan twin sisters in the real world who get caught breaking and entering. Then a hot vampire steps in and tells them that they are the true heirs to a magical land which features faeries, shifters, vampires and more.
And that they’ll stand to receive a sorely needed inheritance if they pass their Reckoning at the Zodiac Academy. So naturally, they agree to go. But of course, it’s no ordinary academy…
At the school there are 4 hot guys, who are the current temporary heirs to the land. They are cocky and desperate to maintain their position in the land. They are also the heads of the 4 houses of the academy.
At this point you’re really invested into the character’s story, and intense power plays begin before the twins even discover the full extent of their own powers. These power plays are not only humiliating but they literally put lives at risk. And it’s not just the students the twins have to worry about – it’s the teachers, too.
This is just the first in a series of great books, and the first one is sure to seduce you into reading the next. You have to get quite far into the first book for the first sex scene, but there’s much more to come in the remaining books.
And just so you know, there is some bully-romance involved (some people like it, some don’t).
Court Of The Vampire Queen
This is what’s known as a reverse harem romance. And for those of you who don’t already know what this means, it’s that it features sexual liaisons with one main female character and at least two other male characters (usually more). Here’s how the story begins…
Half human and half vampire, Mina always felt torn between two worlds, and now she has become a pawn in her father’s power play, gifting her off to a darkly powerful vampire, Malachi Zion, who also happens to be dangerously seductive.
At first, he seems like a monster, fierce, and with a dark reputation. But over time fear bleeds into lust, and then to something more.
Malachi introduces Mina to a new way of living, as he discovers she can love and be loved by three men together.
And better yet, Mina may now be able to face down her abusive father once and for all and reclaim her throne.
The characters leap off the page and are well-developed. It’s mainly smut, but there’s a nice addition of plot in the mix as well.
Before you go ahead and read, be sure to know that the book contains explicit sex, dubious consent, abusive parenting, blood play, attempted drugging and more.
Wrap Up
And that’s a wrap for now, book lovers. I hope you’ve enjoyed browsing through my shortlist, but I know you’re gonna love reading the books even more. Happy reading!
