Go to college, they say. It will pay for itself, they say. The loans won’t be more than you can handle, they say. I’m here to tell you that whoever they are, they lie and if I meet them in a dark alley we’re going to have words— if you can call a high heel to the shin words.

Only my high heels and most everything I own have been sold off as I tried to keep afloat. Try being the key word. I’m failing, miserably. And when I come home after working thirty hours straight and see the eviction notice, I collapse in defeat. Why keep trying, when there’s no path to victory. I am put a fork in me done.
